Dear Highland families:

As you’ve likely heard, June 1st marks the beginning of a new phase in school’s response to the COVID-19 pandemic. This phase has all educators back in our buildings and a partial return of elementary age students. At secondary our primary focus remains remote/online learning however we will be inviting a limited number of vulnerable learners back into school to get the extra assistance they need.

Also, on Wednesdays (June 3rd, 10th and 17th), Highland will be open to any student wishing to get support from their teachers on the work they’ve been provided online. To access this support students need to contact their teachers to arrange a time as we will still have restriction on the number of students permitted in each classroom. Also, teachers may choose to request that students attend on Wednesdays if they have outstanding work. If students wish to avoid this request they need to ensure all assigned work is completed. It is expected that any student entering the building: has no signs of illness, maintains appropriate social distancing practices, and is here to do purposeful work.

Counselling and Indigenous Education services will also be available. Please contact the school to make an appointment to see one of our counselors, Ms. Buckle, Mr. Swanson or Ms. Lewis or our Indigenous Education workers Ms. Flint and Ms. Chartrand.

Certain spaces in the school will continue to remain closed, these include the Gym, Library, Fitness Room and Multi-purpose room.
