Yearbook Club     

Calling all photographers and page-designers! Didn't get into yearbook class but still really want to take photos or design pages? Join the yearbook club just by checking in with Ms. Colborne every Friday to pick-up a yearbook task which could be photography, pages design, advertising or even a bit of journalism.

Environmental Action Team (EAT)              

Are you concerned about climate change? Do you want to take part in school and community actions to make our lives more sustainable? Come to the first meeting of the Environmental Action Team (EAT) Friday, Sept. 20th in the Art Room to find out more. This is a great opportunity to get involved and make a difference! All grades welcome.

Beading Circle 

Open to all students Grades 8-12. Create beaded jewelry, appliques, and other decorative items. Learn about Indigenous and Metis beading styles.

Gardening Club

This club will revitalize and maintain the gardens around Highland. We will learn basic gardening and composting techniques as we work towards creating a space that will support our Foods program.

Cultural Exchange to Shanghai China

Host a student for a week in January with many local field trips and school experiences, and travel to China at Spring Break for 2 weeks to experience Shanghai, visit many tourist attractions (including Shanghai Disney and an ancient water town!), and end the trip with a 3-4 day trip to Beijing to see the Great Wall, an acrobat show, and many other attractions!

Highland Aboriginal Student Council (HASC)
The council has been engaged in fundraising and helping to bring awareness to Indigenous issues that our students face. Some of the activities have included cultural awareness days, leadership at school wide assemblies, supporting elders in the community, supporting the Red Dress and Moosehide Campaign, Cultural Camps, supporting the Attiwapiskat crisis, promoting cultural pride and creating an inclusive setting for all students.

Interact Club

This is a Rotary affiliated club for Grade 8 – 12 students wanting to make a positive impact on the school, community, and world through service initiatives - one local (e.g. YANA) and one Global (e.g. WE Charity). The club runs a variety of fundraisers and awareness campaign throughout the year.

Queer-Straight Alliance (QSA)                   

Are you someone who identifies as Lesbian, Gay, Bi, Trans, Queer, Questioning, etc., and/or a straight ally who cares about acceptance and safer spaces in our school? Highland's Queer-Straight Alliance (QSA) meets every Thursday at the beginning of lunch in Room 203 (red stairs). Come hang out, bring your lunch, and be a part of advocacy & events in our awesome community. Everyone welcome!

Robotics

If you like tinkering with mechanical things, come join the robot revolution and learn how to make the robots do as you command!  Great opportunity to design, build and code VEX EDR robots to compete in regional tournaments.
